The EFF gives a perspective on the legal arguments against the now-infamous HD-DVD decryption key being publicised by third parties
By now, if you've not heard of the furore surrounding the HD-DVD decryption key and Digg, you've presumably been under a rock somewhere.
Well, as has happened so many times before, that particular genie is well-and-truly out of the bottle, and attempts to stuff it back inside are likely to fail. It won't stop cadres of lawyers on very expensive retainers from trying to do so.
So, if you're determined to publicise the key and fancy a bit of a punch-up with said legal vermin, the Electronic Frontier Foundation has produced a brief introduction to the various legal arguments you can expect to see arrayed against you.
What do you call a thousand lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.
